Notre-Dame Cathedral

Notre-Dame Cathedral is a very famous（著名的） church in the center of Paris, France. It was built on a small island called Île de la Cité, which is surrounded（被环绕） by the Seine River. Many people from all over the world come to visit（参观） this beautiful place.

This church is very old（古老的）. The building started in the year 1163 and was finished in 1345. That means it took more than 180 years to complete! People at that time worked very hard and used big stones to build it, one by one.

The church is very beautiful（漂亮的）. It has two tall towers and a big rose window（玫瑰花窗）. The rose window is made of colorful（五颜六色的） glass. When sunlight shines through, it makes bright and colorful（多彩的） light inside the church. There are also many statues（雕像） and paintings（画作） inside.

Notre-Dame is not just a church. It is also an important（重要的） part of French history（历史）. Many special events happened here, like the crowning（加冕） of Napoleon. Many French kings came here to pray

There are also some stories（故事） about the church. The most famous（著名的） one is called The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. It was written by a French writer（作家） named Victor Hugo. The story is about a bell-ringer（敲钟人） named Quasimodo and a kind girl named Esmeralda. This story made the church even more well-known

In 2019, there was a big fire（火灾） at Notre-Dame. The roof and the spire（尖塔） were burned, and many people were very sad（伤心的）. Now, workers are trying hard to repair（修复） the church so it can look like it did before. Everyone is looking forward to the day it opens again.

Visiting Notre-Dame is not just about seeing a building. You can also feel the history（历史） and see the love（爱） and hard work of the people from long ago. Even after hundreds of years, the church still stands there, like a quiet guardian（守护者） of the past.
