Do you know? There is a super famous music award (奖项 in the world called the Grammy Award. It is given to people who sing really well, play instruments perfectly, or write amazing songs. It's like the “Best of the Year” award for music!

This award has been around for a long time. It started in 1959. Back then, many musicians (音乐家) thought, “We need an important award just for us!” So, the Grammy Award was born. The name “Grammy” comes from the word “Gramophone” (留声机), which is an old machine (机器) that plays music. If you look at the golden Grammy trophy (奖杯), you’ll see it looks like an old gramophone. Isn’t that cool?

Who can win this award? It’s not just anyone who votes (投票). Thousands of music experts (专家) secretly (秘密地) choose the winners. They listen carefully and pick the most touching (感人的) voices. There are four big prizes: Album of the Year (年度最佳专辑), Song of the Year (年度最佳歌曲), Producer of the Year (年度最佳制作人), and Best New Artist (最佳新人). Can you imagine? Big stars like Taylor Swift and Adele have held the Grammy trophy with excitement (兴奋)!

The Grammy Awards have had many amazing moments (时刻). In 1984, Michael Jackson won 8 Grammys all by himself (自己)! In 2010, Beyoncé won 6 awards in one night, setting a record (纪录) for female singers (女歌手). In 2023, a young artist named Samara Joy surprised (惊讶) everyone by winning “Best New Artist.”
