Yellowstone National Park

In the wide lands of the American West, there is a very special place. It is called Yellowstone National Park (国家公园). It is the first national park in the world. Under the ground of the park, there is a huge volcano (火山).

When you walk into Yellowstone, you will see many colorful hot springs (温泉). The most famous one is the Grand Prismatic Spring (大棱镜温泉). It looks like a giant (巨大的) paint palette (调色盘). The water shows blue, green, yellow, orange, and red colors. These beautiful colors come from tiny (微小的) living things called microorganisms (微生物) that live in the hot water.

The park also has hot springs that can spray (喷射) water. They are called geysers (间歇泉). The most famous one is called “Old Faithful (老忠实泉).” It is very on time (准时). About every hour, it sprays hot water high into the sky. The water goes very high and looks amazing (惊人的). It is like the earth is sneezing (打喷嚏) loudly.

Yellowstone is also home to many wild animals (野生动物). Huge bison (野牛) eat grass on the fields. Graceful (优雅的) elk (麋鹿) often drink water by the river. If you are lucky, you might see a brown bear (棕熊) or a black bear (黑熊) walking in the forest (森林). Remember, watch them from far away and do not disturb (打扰) them.

Besides hot springs and animals, there are thick (茂密的) forests here too. Tall pine trees (松树) stand straight and strong. Quiet Yellowstone Lake (黄石湖) is like a big mirror (镜子). The lake water shows the blue sky and white clouds. Walking on the small path (小路) by the lake and breathing the fresh (新鲜的) air feels really nice.

A long time ago, people found this magical (神奇的) land. To protect (保护) everything special here, in 1872, the United States made it the first national park in the world. Since then, the hot springs, forests, lakes, and animals have been well protected (得到保护). People can safely (安全地) come to see the wonders (奇妙) of nature.

Yellowstone is like a big natural museum (自然博物馆). It shows us the power (力量) inside the earth. It also shows us how plants and animals live together in peace (和谐). Next time, if you have a chance, would you like to feel the warm steam (热气) of the hot springs first, or look for bison tracks (踪迹)? I believe you will fall in love with this magical land.
